Comparison of Security and Convenience in Transactions on the Internet

Currently, online transactions have become an increasing trend in Indonesian society, both for shopping and paying bills. The banking sector in Indonesia currently applies very tight security in on-line transactions, thereby reducing the convenience of using it. In European countries, some customers cancel transactions in the middle of the road because they feel uncomfortable with very tight security. This paper seeks to find out the problems experienced by users in Indonesia when transacting on-line so as to reduce their interest in using it and the things they hope to implement to make it easier and increase their motivation in conducting transactions on the Internet. The research method was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the study indicate that safe and comfortable transactions have not been obtained at a level that satisfies consumers. The banking sector in collaboration with online business companies needs to develop a more reliable system to motivate consumers to transact online.
